My wife and I enjoyed several days of hiking and birding in Rocky Mountain National Park. These are some of my favorite images I was able to capture.
While on vacation in Colorado last weekend, my wife and I spent a lot of time at Rocky Mountain National Park. We had visited the park before but last time we were there, snow had closed the main road through the mountains and we weren’t able to see much of the park at all. This time, our experience was completely different!
No matter where you are within the park, there is beautiful scenery to be seen and interesting birds to watch.
While there were many birds to look at, and I added a few new ones to my list, the White-tailed Ptarmigan was my main target on the trip. I was very lucky and ran into a couple birders who had just found one making my job of finding this difficult to see bird much easier! After taking some photos with my phone through my spotting scope, I crawled slowly up to the bird and took some fantastic shots with my Canon DSLR!
In order to get to the area where you can see the White-tailed Ptarmigan, you have to drive through Rocky Mountain National Park on one of the most incredible roads I have driven on. For me, Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in the US. Here are a few of the amazing views you can see as you drive along.
Have you ever visited Rocky Mountain National Park? If so, where is your favorite place in the park to stop and enjoy the view?
